Surrealist Busts

This project was inspired by the surrealism genre of art. The idea and message behind surrealism is to tap into ones psyche. This genre encourages the use of your subconscious when making your art.

Surealist Bust: Tree Lady

This piece was put together through endless days of hand building the upper body, face, and hair. There was also the use of the slab roller throughout this project.

Inspiration

When making this piece I was inspired to combine the iconic afro that African American and Balck Americans wear with pride. To incorperate surrealism I made this bust into a tree having the leaves be the afro and body be the brown bark skin of the represented individuals.
